Now this has been a long time coming, but I have finally got the Audiobook version of my first book, The Veil of Echoes, ready for release. I have been working on this for a while and I am really excited to finally be able to share it with you all. The Audiobook is available on the Eleven platform at the moment for review, so if you are interested in listening to the story, please check it out. I hope you enjoy it! I is currently being processed for release and I will need to review before letting it loose on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. I will let you know when it is available on those platforms as well, providing links to the Audiobook on those platforms when it is available. I must admit I was impressed with the quality of the Audiobook and the AI created narration, and I am really happy with how it turned out. There were a few hiccups along the way, to do with the creation process, but I think the end result is worth it. I hope you all enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
FossilQuest was uploaded for testing
Well, what do I say, the app was uploaded to the Google Play Store for testing. I found the required test group and uploaded the app. The app was tested and failed with a memory issue straight away. This as luck would have it, did not completely derail the process, however testing ended up being done in South Asia where I had not tested for geology sources, so hey ho. Currently the app is pending me getting back to it. So stay tuned! On a recent trip to Switzerland, I was able to test the app in a real-world environment and it worked well. I am currently working on fixing the memory issue and will be uploading a new version of the app for testing soon. I am really excited about this and I hope you all enjoy using the app as much as I enjoyed creating it. I also have a bug listed where the lithography is not being displayed correctly, so I will be working on fixing that as well.
Quick addendum
Quick note, given I have not been keeping up with the blog, it’s worth noting here that in getting back to this site I have updated the site to use the latest version of Astro. Touch wood it went very well. There are enhancements to the site that I will be making over the next few months, so stay tuned for those. I am also working on a new project that I will be sharing with you all soon. Quick and dirty I know but time is short. And no one ever reads this anyway, so…
A writer’s note
I keep thinking about this as someone who writes speculative fiction. I clearly have not created a distopian enough world in my first book, and I have not been explicit enough about the climate change that has happened in book one. I have been thinking about this a lot lately, and I think it is important to be explicit about the possible social effects of climate change even though I am trying to maintain the threads of support and cooperation.
