December 2024 update

Big changes, following the release of Astro 5.0

New features

following the release of Astro 5.0, an update yet again broke my site. I had to spend a few hours fixing it in the end by another re-write, but I’m very happy with the result so far. I’ve also added a new features to the site as I continue to re-develop the site.

Comments section to blog posts

I am going to add comments section to the blog posts, so you can now leave comments on the posts. I found an Astro 5.0 example that I could use to add comments to the site. I’m still working on it, but it’s coming along nicely.

Auto update for version number

I’ve added a version number to the site, which will automatically update when I push a new version of the site. This will help me keep track of the changes I make to the site. Added to which I intend to add a changelog to the site, so you can see what changes have been made to the site. I’m still working on this, but it’s coming along nicely and will tie in nicely to the database I need to add to handle the comments.

CO2 and Methane emissions

These were added in the last update, but I’ve now added a new section to the site that will show the CO2 and Methane live. Previously values updated on build, but now it will update automatically. I’m still working on this, as it requires the ‘live island’functionality of the latest build of Astro.

As you can see loads to develop
