A summary work to date
A bit of a broad church this one. A catchup of all that has been going on while I have been concentrating on getting my novel published, and a look ahead to some of the things I am working on and some of the things I am excited about.
First lets start with the latest: updating this site to Astro 6.0. So far fairly painless. Many new features I have yet to take advantage of but ‘live’ content collections are now no longer experimental so great and I look forward to exploring them further.
26-03-2026 - I spoke too soon! There were some unexpected issues that arose during the update process, but they have been resolved and the site is now fully functional with Astro 6.0, apart from the photos page which is broken due to issues updating the cloudinary integration. The other issue was with typesafe routes which I have removed. Lots of testing needed but hopefully its plain sailing now.
Next up, as mentioned elsewhere I have been working on a new novel. It is called “The Veil of Echoes” and it is a climate fiction novel that explores themes of consciousness and the human experience. It is set in a near future where the world is facing a climate crisis and follows the story of a group of people who are trying to survive and find meaning in a world that is rapidly changing. I have just completed my third revision of the manuscript and pushed it up to the kindle publishing platform. In addition to ebook format it is now in paperback and hardcover formats as well. Next up marketing and lets get some out there!
In other news, I have been working on some updates to my App, working copies on both android and iOS at the moment. Almost ready to pursue a release on the Google Play Store. However during testing I noticed the display of fossil information was too technical, updates needed there then I will post more about it when it is live. I also have a another domain which I will be using for the App which is fossilgeo.uk. I will be redirecting that to the App once it is live. That site is intended to support the app and help users navigate and gain real benefits from it. I am really excited about the future and I can’t wait to share more with you all. There is not much else to say at the moment, but I just wanted to give you all a quick update on what I have been up to and what you can expect in the coming weeks. I have started work on book 2 of the ‘Sentient Threads’ series and I am looking forward to sharing more about it soon. One area I am particularly excited about is the development of new characters and plot lines that will expand the universe and deepen the themes explored in the first book. One area I am especially focused on is investing the ‘Block Universe’ and I hope to write an article here on it soon.
