October 2025 Update: Geology app and a little music

Geology app milestone (Android, .NET MAUI)

Good news on the geology app: I’ve reached a milestone that’s solid for a free version with adverts. Still wrestling with Google AdMob to show real ads reliably, but test ads are fine. A paid version is planned once I’m happy with onboarding and content packaging.

What’s next for App content? Lots of ideas:

  • Lichens, liverworts, fungi, plants to be worked in at the geological levels and dates
  • Paleo/field context like “What was the marine environment?” and similar prompts
  • More structured “learn” flows and checklists

Bug fixes and site tweaks

I’ve been clearing a handful of papercuts:

  • Fixed an issue saving nickname and email when adding comments
  • Continued polish passes and small fixes across pages
  • The “gasses” component display still needs attention — layout and readability tweaks coming soon

I also expanded the Top Links page, adding a small but meaningful section: a funeral playlist I enjoy. You can find it here:

What’s next

  • Resolve AdMob production ads
  • Split out free vs. paid builds and entitlements
  • Add more content modules (field guides, habitat context, quick IDs)
  • UI polish across components (including the gasses display)

Thanks for following along — more soon.
